Love Yourself First!

Published by lifecoachkansascity on September 9th, 2009

Relationships with other people can come and go. Your relationship with yourself is the one that you need to not only focus on but also be proud of.I wrote this post to a friend and then decided it was advice I’d give to anyone so I’d changed a few words to make it let specific but wanted to share it with everyone. I’m tagging it as leadership because we truly are leading our own lives. Sometimes we just forget we have so much freedom to choose where we lead ourselves. You are a beautiful soul that shines bright.Only let people in that make your light brighter, if they dim it then they are not supporting and helping you grow toward your true brilliance.  You have a choice to grow from every situation, positive and negative. Some of our greatest growth in life comes from the worst situations we go through. It never really feels like it at the time but it all adds up to make us who we are.All you can do it focus on being someone who adds to your own brilliance and not dim your own light.Love yourself first. When you do you role model positive behavior for others. You also become grounded in love which attracts others who are grounded in love to you.Chuck FranksRelationship Coach

Planet REUSE

Published by Chuck Franks on July 22nd, 2009

Are you doing everything you can do to recycle? Some are taking it a step beyond the blue bins you put on your curb each week. Nathan Benjamin is someone who is doing just that. Nathan and his company are recycling/reusing in a big way. Nathan with his company Planet REUSE,  can save you money while being green. Now that I have your attention I’ll explain a little about what Nathan is doing and how it not only helps our planet but helps business owners along the way.

First I have to share that at one point when Nathan and I were talking I had to ask him to slow down, that is how excited and energized he is about what he does.  I was like hey, I’m trying to take notes here. You can read Planet Reuse Blog at your own pace but I warn you it doesn’t have Nathan’s contagious energy.

PlanetReuse makes it easier to incorporate reclaimed building material into projects around the world. As a brokering company, they match materials with your need, typically at a 15 to 20 percent savings over new. (Digg that) Their process is streamlined and efficient: they locate and source the materials, test for quality and document for LEED certification. This frees you to focus on what you do best, and helps divert tons of construction materials from landfills. The PlanetReuse objective is simple: save your project money, save your time and save the planet. Founded by an architect and a contractor, the PlanetReuse consultants know your world and speak your language. Like you, they care deeply about responsible and sustainable construction. That’s why making it significantly easier for you to source reclaimed building materials is their mission. And because they work their consultant fee into the material suppliers cost, PlanetReuse is one of few examples where going green saves money. Nathan was nice enough to send me some bullet points since I don’t know shorthand.

  • PlanetReuse consultants get involved as early as possible—ideally during the schematic or design development phase—to help determine what reclaimed materials you need. We provide access to an incredible palette of quality materials—from structural steel to reclaimed hardwood flooring—for projects of any size.
  • We fill your need from our vast global network of demolition and reclamation contractors, sourcing as close to your project as possible. Without a proprietary stake in who provides the materials, we can offer a wide range of costs and options.
  • Then, we do whatever it takes to make the process easy for you: coordinate samples and submittals, certify quality with our ReAssure testing process, and develop specifications for your approval. Once approved, we reserve the materials exclusively for your project. We’ll handle shipping and compile the necessary documentation for LEED submittal.

Happy Father’s Day

Published by Chuck Franks on June 22nd, 2009

Thank you Dad,for always being my solid rock, for teaching me values that withheld the test of time, for teaching me patience (a lesson still being worked on)for supporting me,pushing me,accepting me,loving me.I am who I am today because my father is who he is. Steadfast in his conviction to be a man. A man not defined by outside criteria but one who bases decisions in love and value and honor. Salt of the earth kind of guy.I come from a working class family but somehow growing up I taught to believe I was equal to anyone. I was taught the value of a dollar, how not to follow others just because everyone else was doing it, and how to stand in my own space and be my own man.So thank you Dad. You have taught me to be able to see remarkable people, remarkable things, because you are remarkable and always have been. Thanks for being truly remarkable.Your loving son,Chuck[img_assist|nid=199|title=Me and My Dad, Leon|desc=|link=popup|align=center|width=380|height=506]

Kansas City’s very own Quixotic

Published by Chuck Franks on June 22nd, 2009

Original, unexpected, superb, exquisite beauty. I think those are the words I will use to start off with to describe my Friday evening.  At one point in the show I thought to myself, how am I going to describe the feeling of more than 3D cause it felt like more?  It felt like a ride at Disneyland® where you are taken on a journey and the show starts when you pass through the dark doors. The anticipation builds as your imagination soars. (I can hear the theme now from my childhood as Tinkerbell flys around the TV screen sparking off fireworks with her wand) Captivated from start to finish and it doesn’t end till you come back out of the tunnel and you realize it’s still daylight outside cause you had forgotten there was an outside. All you can think of is running around to get in line for the ride again.[img_assist|nid=200|title=Quixotic|desc=|link=popup|align=left|width=100|height=155] [img_assist|nid=201|title=Chuck Franks and Anthony Magliano|desc=|link=popup|align=left|width=100|height=69] [img_assist|nid=202|title=Chuck Franks and Mica Thomas|desc=|link=popup|align=left|width=100|height=86] [img_assist|nid=203|title=Mica Thomas and Logan Pachariz|desc=|link=popup|align=left|width=100|height=82]
I feel joyous that I experienced this show. It is one thing to talk about someone who is doing something remarkable, it is quite another to be caught up in an experience that is more than your mind could have imagined. They engaged my eyes, my ears, my thought and my imagination. It is a show that has so many elements going on that you could see it more than once and still not see it all. Sometimes it is so big and bold that it is more than you can absorb. At other times it narrowed its focus on one performer, be it a musician or  dancer but only briefly and always intermingling video and graphic design elements. The photos I took from my iphone don’t do justice go to Quixotic’s website to see better visuals. Thank you Anthony for creating beauty in a world usually focused on other things.Follow them on facebook at QuixoticFusion.Anthony Magliano is the artistic director and Quixotic co-founder. This production  LUX ESALARE represents “an incredible step forward for the ensemble” says Magliano.“From the moment we started working on this production, we knew we wanted to push ourselves even further than everbefore,” Magliano says. “In many ways, the thematic material of this work is a reflection of the personal drive that everymember of Quixotic has inside him or herself. At one time or another, we’ve all struggled to maintain balance while at the same time trying to feed that artistic hunger that each of us has within. As a result, this production has been a very personal labor of love for all of us.”Magliano’s fellow artistic director Mica Thomas, now entering his third year with the group.“Contemporary ballet and modern dancers share the stage with aerialists overhead,” says Thomas. “Jazz and classical and pop musicians play shoulder to shoulder. Fashion designers actively collaborate with make up artists. Traditional theater technicians engage with digital technologists. And then with LUX ESALARE we have the honor of bringing in a world-class talent like Sonya Tayeh [So You Think You Can Dance choreographer and EDGE Performing Arts Center instructor] as a choreographer. It’s hard to think how much more we can throw into the mix. In the end, it is incredible how it all comes together seamlessly.”Also pictured is Logan Pachariz who is the director of Choreography who I first met at an open house Quixotic had for supporters. There are so many individuals involved in this show that it is hard to focus on so few.  But these are the leaders who pull this all together with the help of many.Quixotic Performance Ensemble presentsLUX ESALAREDates: June 19- 20, 8pm | June 25-27, 8pmLocation: Spencer Theatre | UMKC Performing Arts Center | 4949 Cherry Street | Kansas City, MO 64110Tickets: $20-$30 | www.umkc.edu/adminfinance/businessservices/cto/Quixotic.asp | 816-235-6222Please share this. And for anyone not able to experience this in person I hear rumors of a DVD being produced and edited.Coaching Question: How do you collaborate in your life with others to be more than any one person could be by themselves?
