Everyone needs to understand the law about sending out unsolicited e-mails. Both from a consumer standpoint but also and more importantly a business standpoint. Because if your using e-mail as part of your marketing you need to realized you have a liability issue if your not doing it correctly.Spammer LawDo you follow all the rules to keep you safe from a lawsuit? Just because no one has complained so far doesn’t mean you can’t make sure your doing it correctly to 1) avoid legal issues 2) build stronger relationships with those clients that you truly want to attract. Respect: How do you earn it? Do you earn it by being the loudest person in the room always talking about yourself? Or do you earn it by slowly but professionally crafting your message to be of importance and value to the listener. I learned from one of my clients that Quakers have what they call a wisdom or prayer circle, where you only speak when what you have to say will add to the conversation. Not just to hear yourself talk. There is a lot of silence between spoken words but when the words are spoken everyone listens. I wonder what it would be like to see quakers on twitter. Might be a very slow tweet stream.Bottom line is be careful, thoughtful, and purposeful as you utilize social media to market and network.
