Small Business Owners need to plan for the future by focusing on organic search

From a business perspective I think it is important that small business owners need to plan for the future and focus on organic search-ability rather than putting all your eggs in one basket hoping to make a quick buck off some pay-per-click advertising. I'm not saying PPC doesn't have its place and shouldn't be considered but it shouldn't be relied on completely.  As soon as you stop paying for the advertising all your ranking goes away with it, whereas you can put time and energy and less money into creating a website and a blog and content that will always be there that you own and Google has to search and serve it up when it matches someone's content.  One of the reasons blogs are so popular is that it gives the power to the small business owner

so that they can create content quickly. This is a shift from a few years ago when you had to go to your web developer and give them content wait for them to up date your website. Now with a few clicks of the mouse you can update your own website. You can add content daily, hourly as often as you want.  So the power is no longer in someone else's hands, it's now in the hands of the small business owner. The problem or one of the problems that comes along with having the power in your own hands is being able to stay focused on your own marketing strategy.  How do you set aside time to work on content and learn all the tricks needed to make the content keyword rich or heavy so that it focuses on your ideal client.  From a business coaching standpoint, I try to help people understand what it is that they are truly trying to achieve. Are you trying to get someone to click and buy something or have a web presence or are you trying to sell a service. The end result will dictate how your website should be designed, how it should be laid out and the market or the niche that you are working at trying to reach also will dictate certain aspects of how the website needs to flow in order to reflect that audience and resonate with them.

I recently read an article about Facebook advertising is making a lot of money however the return and the performance is really bad.

Facebook’s advertising business is soaring. Yet the performance of the average Facebook ad is abysmal.

So think about getting a consultant to help you set goals and manuver the choices you have when it comes to advertising and marketing your business.
